Join the University's world-class Education Research Community comprised of distinguished interdisciplinary faculty and outstanding doctoral students in an ambitious, multi-year, university-wide project to understand how we can improve the contribution of schooling to the life success of children growing up in our nation’s cities. Our highly accomplished doctoral fellows bring diverse backgrounds, experiences, expertise and perspectives to this project.
Integrate research and practice to answer questions including but not limited to:
How and when children gain skills critical to their long-term success and what interventions are most promising
How the interaction between environment and individuals contributes to learning
How school organization best supports effective teaching
The role of teacher learning and teacher labor markets in promoting effective teaching
How different perspectives (biological, neuroscience, socio-emotional, policy) contribute to answers
Receive Generous Support
$30,000 stipend per year for 5 years and full tuition coverage
Additional funds for travel and research
Opportunities for funded dissertation projects
How to Apply
Students must apply to work with faculty in a participating department or professional school and also complete a Committee on Education (COE) Fellowship application. Participating departments and schools: Comparative Human Development, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, the Harris School of Public Policy, and the School of Social Service Administration.
